There are ten two-day sessions offered at different times throughout July. To find out when these dates are offered, click the session dates link on the left.

In order to prepare for Bear Facts Orientation, please make sure to complete your placement exam tests for English, Math, and Chemistry (if needed). You will need those placement exam scores in order to register for your classes. You will also need to complete the online pre-Orientation module, which will prepare you to hear detailed registration information during the Bear Facts program, and show you helpful tips to register and get the classes you want.

Make sure your travel arrangements plan for you to remain on the UCR campus until 5:30 pm on Day 2 of your Orientation Session

  • The College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CHASS), the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (CNAS), and the Bourns College of Engineering (BCOE) are the undergraduate colleges at UCR. The admission packet you received from us includes the name of your college and major. Be sure to take a look at the admission letter you received if you don't remember the name of the college to which you were admitted.
  • New UCR students who attend Orientation each year consistently achieve higher grade point averages and are more likely to persist in their studies than UCR students who did not take advantage of the program. Orientation gives you an important head start in preparing for your college career, specifically providing you with the opportunity to meet with staff from your academic college and register early for your Fall quarter classes. Students who fail to attend the mandatory Orientation Session that they signed up for will be automatically signed up for the next available session and assessed a $25 change fee.
  • We've created a special day of informative programs so your family can learn more about UCR and understand what you'll be experiencing as a first year student. More than half of incoming first-year students bring at least one adult family member to this informative program. Even though it is not mandatory for family members to attend, keep in mind that it would make your transition into college easier.
  • Although family members and students will follow different program tracks, you will check in together. Both the Student and Family Orientation programs begin with check in at 9:00 a.m. The family program ends with dinner at 7:30 PM on the first day of the student's two-day session, allowing students and family members to catch up on the events of the day.
  • Registration for Family and Student Orientation should be done at the same time to make sure you'll be together on campus during the same days. Be sure to sit down and discuss Family Orientation options with your family prior to signing up for your Orientation date, but do so as soon as possible since space for each date is filled on a "first come, first served" basis. A Spanish Language Family Orientation session will be offered on July 12th.
  • Brochures detailing the Family Orientation program, the Spanish Language Family Orientation session, and overnight accommodations for family members will be mailed separately. If you have any questions, feel free to contact our Orientation Office at (951) 827-2789, by fax at (951) 827-2439, by e-mail at orientation@ucr.edu.
  • You will need to have taken all of your placement examinations before you come to Orientation. This is critical in order for you to be able to register for the classes you want and need to take. For details on placement examinations, please click the following link: Placement Exam
  • Registration for each Orientation session is done on a "first come, first served" basis and space in each session is limited. Registering early will give you the best choices of session dates. For details on pricing information, please click here and for session dates, please click here.
