Notes about particular sessions.
The 7/1-7/2 session is only open to students who have been designated as Regents, Chancellor’sor Highlander Scholars, and those who have been admitted into the University Honors Program. The University Honors Program at UCR has a minimum high school GPA requirement of 3.5 You must apply to join the Honors Program through their website: http://honors.ucr.edu
Applicants with strong academic records but with deficiencies in preparation for graduate training may be admitted and must rectify their deficiencies early in the first two years of residence.
All regular sessions begin with registration/check-in at 9:00 a.m. on the first day and conclude at 5:30 p.m. the following day. An overnight stay in the residence halls is a required part of the program. Avoid scheduling conflicting obligations or scheduling your departure from campus before 5:30 p.m. on day two of your session, otherwise you will compromise your ability to register for classes at Orientation. If you are flying out of Ontario Airport, the earliest you should schedule your departure flight to be would be 7:30 pm.
International Students - Read this Notice:
International visa students are strongly encouraged to attend Bear Facts Orientation session. However, if you are an F-1/J-1 student coming to the United States from abroad, your visa situation may prevent you from attending one of the Bear Facts Orientation sessions. Please consult with the International Education Center (IEC) about your ability to enter the United States and attend Bear Facts before you sign-up for an Orientation session. If you are unable to attend a summer Bear Facts Orientation sessions due to your visa situation, you will need to attend some make-up activities in the Fall quarter after your arrive. Also, please remember that all F and J visa students, including those who attended high school in the United States, are required to attend a mandatory orientation program at the International Education Center in September.
