Cost of Attendance:
Basic Orientation Fee for Bear Facts:
The student registration fee for Bear Facts 2008, if you register by June 1st, is: $250.00
After June 1st, the fee goes up to: $300.00
Family Orientation:
$50.00 for each family member. There is a limit of two guests per student registration. Once space runs out, we will not be able to accommodate new guest registrations.
Remember, if you register by June 1st, 2008, you save $50.00
Cancellations and Refund Policy:
If you cancel your reservation prior to five business days before your assigned session date, you will be assessed a $25.00 per person cancellation fee and you will be refunded any remaining amount after October 1, 2008. For your benefit our orientation program is mandatory, so you will need to attend one of the Bear Facts Orientation sessions.
Please note that if you do not notify us of your cancellation at least five business days before your assigned session date, your payment will not be refunded. A no-show on your confirmed Orientation date will result in loss of eligibility for any refund.
If you register for a Bear Facts Orientation date or a Family Orientation session and do not cancel or send payment, you are still responsible for the cost of the program. Resources for the program are arranged in advance and are paid for in anticipation of your attendance; you are responsible for paying for these costs even if you do not attend the Orientation session you chose, or if you decide not to attend UCR.
If you register for Bear Facts Orientation and you decide not to attend UCR or your admission is rescinded, you are responsible for notifying our office that you, and any registered family members, will not be attending Bear Facts Orientation. Failure to notify our office will result in loss of eligibility for any refund.
All payments made by credit card will be refunded back to the same credit card used, if a refund is warranted according to our policies above.
All inquiries into Orientation-related bills and fees must be submitted before October 1, 2008. After this date, no adjustments to the amount due will be made.
Date Change Fees:
Any request to change a confirmed Orientation date must be received at least five business days prior to the confirmed Orientation date. If space on the new date allows for the change, a change fee of $25.00 will be added to the Orientation amount due.
Partial Fee Waiver:
A limited number of partial fee waivers for eligible financial aid students are available on a "first-come, first-served" basis. If your family contribution for the cost of attending UCR, as determined by the UCR Financial Aid Office, is $1000.00 or less, you may be eligible for a partial fee waiver. A partial fee waiver, if approved, will cover a portion of the student registration fee for Bear Facts Orientation but will not cover the cost of late fees, cancellation fees, date change fees, or Family Orientation fees. You can indicate your interest in applying for this partial fee waiver on the online registration form, when registering for Orientation. Students who do not receive a partial fee waiver, who otherwise qualified for one, may choose to defer their Bear Facts Orientation charges to their fall quarter bill (see "Payment Methods", "Deferred Payment", below). This allows for financial aid awards to assist in paying these charges, however, registration charges for Family Orientation cannot be deferred.
Payment Methods:
You may pay for Bear Facts Orientation using combinations of the following methods:
- Online Credit Card Payment: You may use a Visa or MasterCard credit card to pay for Student and Family Orientation fees by using our online credit card system. Credit Cards can ONLY be processed using the online system.
- Check or money order: You may pay using a check or money order, in the amount due for Bear Facts Orientation and Family Orientation program charges. Payment must be made payable to "UC Regents" and must include the UCR Student Identification Number (SID#) of the student attending Orientation. The SID# is a 9-digit number and can be found on MyUCR. Please make sure that your check/money order is made out exactly for the fes that you owe for Bear Facts Orientation. Please do not send payment for any other program to our office.
- Deferred payment: This option forwards the student's Bear Facts Orientation charges and any related date change fees to the student's Statement of Account (which can be paid by credit card or check). This method of payment may not be used to pay for any charges related to Family Orientation; these charges must be paid by check or money order.
